Portable expands creative capability with Saxall team acquisition

Storytelling, video, and animation strengthens Creative Services offering

Portable, Australia’s leading innovation partner for public good, has expanded its creative capability with the acquisition of Saxall, a storytelling studio known for its emotive and high-impact visual storytelling across the public and for-purpose sectors.

The Saxall team has now joined Portable as part of its growing Creative Services offering, bringing together deep expertise in documentary, animation, narrative video, and creative campaign strategy.

The move reinforces Portable’s long-standing belief in the power of empathy and human connection to spark understanding, shift perspectives, and drive change.

Joe Sciglitano, Director of our Creative Services team

“Storytelling is part of being human. Our partners are often trying to communicate something complex or sensitive to people who are bombarded with information. Storytelling is a way to cut through noise and create real meaning that builds understanding and moves people to act. We’ve worked alongside Saxall on multiple projects over the years and knew there was strong alignment in values, craft, and impact. We’re excited to now have them as part of our team.”

Saxall’s integration is part of Portable’s continued investment in high-quality design and content services that support ethical, people-first innovation. Portable has previously delivered award-winning storytelling work on projects such as Orygen’s Chatsafe, Meet Akira, and the Department of Social Services’ Forced Adoption training.

The Creative Services team is already working with clients to develop stories across video, animation and campaign strategy, integrating Portable’s full-service design, research, and technology capability to solve more ambitious challenges for our partners.

Michael Sacks, Senior Creative Producer

"Bringing the Saxall team into Portable strengthens our ability to tell stories with care and impact. Together, we’re helping clients communicate complex ideas in ways people can truly understand and engage with.”
