What's creative work worth?

About this Webinar

Generative AI can produce a convincing image, video, or design in seconds. As it does, it's changing what creative work is worth, who gets to make it, and whether we can believe what we're looking at.

Join us for an hour-long conversation, hosted by Portable's Creative Director Joe Sciglitano, with four people working at different edges of this shift:

  • Bhautik Joshi, R&D Lead at Canva, on what these tools really are once you get past the hype, and on the design and technical decisions that shape what they can do.
  • Christen Cornell, Research Fellow at Creative Australia, on what it means for the creative industries and the people who make their living in them.
  • Dr Anna Broinowski, Walkley-winning filmmaker and synthetic media researcher, on making work inside the new reality, and what it does to truth on screen.
  • Tyrone Estephan, Executive Director of Alt.vfx, one of Australia's leading visual effects studios, on the commercial pressures reshaping production right now.

The webinar will include 15 minutes of questions at the end, so come curious and with provocations.

Who should attend?

  • Designers across all disciplines
  • Gen AI skeptics and champions alike
  • Industry advocates and sector representatives
  • Anyone interested in the future of imagery and creativity in Australia
